The first thing you will achieve with a Pilates training is to improve your posture and alignment together with your muscles tone. Its popularity has increased tremendously in the past few years, thank to its gentle approach and great results.

 

There are two ways of practising Pilates: the first one involves body exercises, which include stretching, breathing techniques and postural exercises. The second one is similar in application but it also involves the support of specifically designed Pilates machines, which help to keep your body in specific positions and isolate some muscles to enhance the benefit of the exercise itself.  

 

Pilates will help you achieve a high fitness level together with the awareness of your own body functionality.

 

 

PILATES BENEFITS

 

Pilates may have the following benefits:

  • It helps restoring postural alignment

  • It helps toning and building long and lean muscles

  • It helps increasing flexibility

  • It helps easing the pain

  • It helps heighten neuromuscular coordination

  • It helps enhancing mobility, agility and stamina

  • It helps the way your body looks and feels

A Pilates session could last anything between 1 to 2 hours, during which you will follow your trainer’s instructions, either on free exercises or with the assistance of specific Pilates machines. Pilates includes postures and stretching as well as breathing techniques.

 

CAUTION

 

Even though Pilates is a good practice for most almost everyone we suggest you consult your GP if you have any physical issues.

 

Pregnant women in the first 12 weeks should avoid some postures and exercise, after which gentle Pilates practice is encouraged to relieve aches and keeping fit. It is also a good preparation for the birth day.
