Setting Up a Yoga Room at Home

Practising yoga is very beneficial to people concerning one’s overall well-being and spirituality. While there are those who may find doing yoga to be more exciting with a group, others feel the need to have a private setting where they can be alone and fully concentrate on it. So, what better way to go about it than to set up your own yoga room at home?

The first thing that a yoga room would need is space where the person who practises it will be able to move around freely and comfortably. Keep in mind that the more breathing room you have, the better it will be for your yoga sessions. Regardless of whether it is a spare bedroom, an unused garage, loft or basement, what is important is that it is free from anything that can obstruct an individual’s concentration. In addition, a space where it has an abundant supply of natural light would also be ideal.

Colours can make a lot of difference to the room and people’s concentration. Therefore, it is best to use the ones that soothes the eyes and radiates positive energies. Examples of such colour would be shades of blue, lavender, yellow and green. If you have a favourite colour that makes you happy or calm when you see it, then use this colour on the wall.

If you will be using candles, make sure they are placed in fire-retardant holders. You can make candles, incense or motivational pictures the focal point of the room to make it more inspiring. Use shelving for tapes, books, and oils. You can also have fresh flowers, feathers or stones as ornaments. Moreover, you can also have a TV, DVD player, or a music player to aid you in your sessions. Most importantly, make sure that the room is free from any clutter, as this can ruin your concentration.
